What is this site?

The Internet was always meant to be a cool place. A place where all of the collective knowledge of our species could be found. An interconnected web of communication outside the confines of censorship and surveillance. Where the discontent of the masses is stirred and intellectual property rights are forgotten. Sadly, this is not the Internet we’ve arrived at 😔 The fascist corporatocracy of the current age has perverted our greatest invention. Instead, it's become a tool for nefarious actors to log the minutia of our lives in order to steal our money and identities. Or worst yet, twist our minds with social media propaganda. This site is here to carve back a little chunk of our vast digital space for what it was meant to be.

What’s with the name?

Anarchistivory.com (pronounced: ˈænərkəst ˈaɪvəri) “Anarchist Ivory” is a portmanteau of anarchist and ivory tower. A place devoted to the study and practice of Libertarian Socialism and Anarcho-syndicalism. The authors of this site reject both the state’s monopoly of violence and the hoarding of private property. Our goal is to help foster a future where dismantled states and broken corporate structures serve as a warning to anyone who dares take too much. Where workers directly control and benefit from their labor. And our species finally recognizes the moral imperative of producing resources according to ability and consuming according to need.

We refuse to accept the capitalist rationalization that workers must be motivated by the constant threat of poverty. And we’ve accepted communism for the failed experiment that it is. We believe instead, that all humans are driven to produce our works for our own self-enrichment. We’re convinced all people are born with intrinsic empathy towards our fellow humans. Our inherent altruism commits us to provide mutual aid to our communities. It is for our community's benefit that we have gone through the trouble and expense of collecting together the digital resources provided by this site.
